DESPLAINES LEE/GRACELAND AVE RR CROSSING CLOSED FOR TWO WEEKS

The Des Plaines Engineering Department has received notification from Metra and the Union Pacific Railroad that Lee Street and Graceland Avenue will be closed to automobile traffic for a period of two weeks from Monday, July 21, 2008 to Sunday, August 3, 2008. The closures are necessary to allow for the shifting of the southernmost (westbound) tracks approximately 11 feet to the south, as part of the Metra Platform construction. Pedestrians are encouraged to cross at Pearson Street during this construction.
From the West
Take I-90 East to I-294 North. Exit Dempster West. Proceed down ramp and merge immediately to the left lane. Make left turn at 1st stoplight which is E. Northwest Highway/Rand Road. Continue under the overpass and proceed to 1st building on the right - 1580 N. Northwest Highway, Suite 120.
From the East
Take I-90 West to I-294 North. Exit Dempster West. Proceed down ramp and merge immediately to the left lane. Make left turn at 1st stoplight which is E. Northwest Highway/Rand Road. Continue under the overpass and proceed to 1st building on the right - 1580 N. Northwest Highway, Suite 120.
From the North
Take I-294 South and exit Golf Road. At stoplight, turn left onto N. East River Road which turns into Bender Road. Proceed on Bender Road to W. Ballard Road. Make a right turn onto Ballard Road. Proceed on W. Ballard Road to Rand Road. Turn left onto Rand Road/E. Northwest Highway to 1580 N. Northwest Highway, Suite 120.
From the South
Take I-294 North. Exit Dempster West. Proceed down ramp and merge immediately to the left lane. Make left turn at 1st stoplight which is E. Northwest Highway/Rand Road. Continue under the overpass and proceed to 1st building on the right - 1580 N. Northwest Highway, Suite 120
