Attention City of Chicago Residents.....

Homeowners who have a principal residence in the City of Chicago may be eligible for some tax relief.

  • Have you seen an increase in your property taxes from tax year 2007 to tax year 2008?

  • Is the increase more than $50?

  • Is your income is less than $200,000?

If you have answered "YES" to these three basic questions, you may qualify.

A few quick tips to get you started. Obtain a copy of your 2007 and 2008 tax bill (second installment), a copy of your 2008 federal income tax form 1040, and a copy of a valid government-issued photo ID reflecting the property address (Driver's License or State ID Card).

The City of Chicago has created a link with instructions and all the tools you will need, including the application, to apply for your tax relief. Click below to be directed to the home page.
